The FX-IT Audit Platform is the on-site evidence and reporting system used on every FX-IT network and fibre infrastructure engagement — from factories and warehouses to campuses, commercial buildings, hospitals and residential estates. Geo-tagged photographs, OTDR trace capture, structured digital forms, and a live stakeholder portal — all working offline when the signal drops behind a switch room door.
FX-IT engineers don't carry clipboards. Every audit, inspection and OTDR test is captured directly into the platform on a tablet or phone — structured, timestamped, geo-located, and synchronised to a workspace your stakeholders can watch live.
Every photograph carries GPS coordinates, capture time and EXIF data. No more “where was this taken?” arguments three weeks after the site walk.
Bellcore .sor files upload directly from the OTDR. The platform parses wavelength, range, total loss, length and the full event list automatically.
Engineers pull a job to the device before walking the site. Plant rooms, basement risers, manholes, factory floors, signal black-spots — nothing breaks the data capture flow.
Cabinet audits, comms-room inventories, fibre splice records, OTDR test logs, Ekahau Wi-Fi surveys, findings logs — every activity has its own form, validated on capture.
Every action is logged — who captured what, when, from which device. Findings cannot be silently edited. Defensible for governance and disputes.
At handover, the entire workspace exports as a watermarked PDF report plus the raw photo archive, OTDR .sor files, and structured form data in CSV/JSON.
From the kick-off meeting onwards, your nominated stakeholders — facilities managers, IT directors, trustees, board members or external auditors — receive a magic-link login to a read-only workspace branded for your organisation. There is no black-box handover at the end of the audit. Questions get raised and answered while the engineer is still on site.
Engineers capture in the field on phone and tablet. Stakeholders watch in their browser. Every photo, OTDR trace and signed-off finding flows between them in real time — and works offline when a switch room kills the signal.
A healthcare Wi-Fi survey, an estate audit report, and an industrial site photo register — same platform, same workflow, different sites. Client identities anonymised.
The audit covered 1.84 km of buried fibre backbone, 14 distribution cabinets and 58 dome-joint enclosures across 20 residential precincts, supplemented by an Ekahau Wi-Fi survey of the clubhouse and gatehouse. Three critical findings require resolution before the next billing cycle; nine major findings should be remediated within 90 days.
| ID | Asset | Severity |
|---|---|---|
| F-019 | Cabinet C-04 — missing earth bond | Critical |
| F-021 | Drop 14 — splice loss 1.7 dB | Critical |
| F-024 | Gatehouse AP-03 — RSSI −85 dBm | Major |
| F-027 | Dome joint DJ-22 — water ingress | Major |
Whether the cabling runs between production lines, classroom blocks, hospital wards, retail floors or residential precincts, the audit discipline is the same — and the FX-IT Audit Platform handles all of it.
Factories, warehouses, distribution centres, mines and processing plants. OT/IT segregation reviews, fibre backbone audits between production cells, ruggedised cabinet inspections, PLC network mapping.
Multi-tenant offices, shopping centres, hotels and mixed-use developments. Riser audits, structured cabling certification, tenant demarc verification, landlord/tenant scope clarity.
Universities, schools and training colleges. Inter-building fibre verification, dorm/classroom Wi-Fi surveys, BYOD-readiness assessments, lifecycle audits ahead of capital programmes.
Hospitals, clinics and laboratories. Ward and theatre Wi-Fi reliability, medical-device VLAN segregation, redundancy and failover validation, clinical-grade documentation trails.
Golf, lifestyle and security estates. Backbone fibre condition, dome-joint and enclosure audits, OTDR baselining, ISP/operator due-diligence ahead of contract renewal.
Local authority offices, depots and service centres. Independent infrastructure verification, vendor-handover acceptance audits, evidence packs for procurement and audit committees.
Fibre operators, ISPs and tower companies. Acquisition due-diligence, post-deployment quality verification, splice-loss audits, GIS-vs-as-built reconciliation.
Hotels, lodges, restaurants and retail chains. Guest Wi-Fi performance audits, POS/network segregation reviews, multi-site portfolio assessments under one workspace.
Stadiums, conference centres and arenas. High-density Wi-Fi readiness, broadcast-fibre verification, event-day capacity audits, post-event lessons-learned reporting.
FX-IT works almost exclusively under mutual non-disclosure. Below are anonymised descriptions of representative engagements — the scale, scope and outcome shapes you can expect, without identifying any client.
Lifestyle / golf estate, Gauteng. Independent FTTH backbone & Wi-Fi audit ahead of ISP contract renewal.
National retailer, 47 sites across five provinces. Portfolio-wide Wi-Fi survey, AP rationalisation and guest-network segregation review.
Local authority, nine sites. Independent verification of a vendor handover after a multi-year structured-cabling and fibre programme.
Indicative engagement shapes — reference numbers redacted, client identities withheld under NDA. Live references arranged privately at quotation stage.
An independent audit is only as useful as what happens next. FX-IT’s post-delivery posture is built around one principle: we don’t bid on remediation work arising from our own audits. Ever. That’s what keeps the next audit honest.
Watermarked PDF + raw evidence pack (photos, .sor traces, .esx heatmaps, CSV/JSON form data). Signed off in the portal. Yours to keep.
The live workspace stays open for 12 months at no further cost. Track remediation against the original findings register; mark items resolved; attach contractor evidence.
If you want help running the remediation programme, we can scope a separate engagement: writing tender packs, evaluating contractor quotes, witness-testing the work, and re-auditing specific findings. We do not bid on the remediation itself.
Because the asset register, photographs and baseline traces already live in the platform, a year-two follow-up costs significantly less than the first audit. Quoted on the same fixed-fee basis.
FX-IT will not tender for, sub-contract on, or accept commission from any remediation work arising from an FX-IT audit.
What this means in practice:
We do not sell hardware. We do not resell ISP or MSP contracts. We do not earn referral fees from contractors we recommend during scope-of-works support. Any commercial relationship arising during an engagement is disclosed in writing within 48 hours, in line with our standard terms.
Every FX-IT audit is led personally by a senior engineer with 15+ years of network field experience, supported by one or two capture engineers and, where required, a specialist (fibre, Wi-Fi, OT). We do not white-label other firms’ engineers and we do not deploy juniors on critical sites.
A two- or three-person crew, on site for the full physical-inspection phase. The lead auditor stays attached to your engagement from kick-off to sign-off; you talk to the same person every time. The capture engineer handles photography, form capture and instrument readings. Specialist support is added when scope requires it — fibre splicing certification, Ekahau-certified Wi-Fi surveyor, OT/IT-segregation expertise.
FX-IT (Pty) Ltd has more than 30 years of experience designing, installing, auditing and managing enterprise network infrastructure across industry, local government, education, healthcare, telecommunications and the commercial sector.
We hold no commercial relationships with fibre operators, ISPs, MSPs or hardware vendors at the sites we audit. Our findings are based exclusively on physical inspection, instrument-based testing and review of available documentation — captured and delivered through the FX-IT Audit Platform.
